Carol has been engaged with land conservation for more than 15 years, including as founding director of a family foundation and project manager for the US-based Trust for Public Land. She recently co-edited a book on novel ecosytems and co-authored an international best practice guideline on ecological restoration in protected areas. Carol is currently most passionate about partnering on projects that lead to new knowledge, collaborations, and tools that will foster community resilience to rapid environmental change.

With a Masters in Environmental Studies, Jeff brings experience in field survey techniques, ecological restoration, and risk management to his work managing the Islands Trust Fund's nature reserves.  His love of the outdoors bodes well for his position there, as he's often found in the field doing everything from invasive species removal, to trail building, to repairing composting toilets.

Ben van Drimmelen, now mostly retired, worked as a forester, biologist and lawyer for decades. He was involved in changes to legislation that finally allowed conservation organizations to hold conservation covenants in BC and has been a director/board member of both the Land Trust Alliance of BC and the Canadian Land Trust Alliance.
